'Eat Me!"

A delicacy in Northern Japan......an accompaniment for a dinner of barbecued bull's pizzles and bird's vomitus soup........I tasted this rather repellant, by American tastes anyway, concoction of fish stock with scallions and fishs' sperm sacs.....perhaps, all this 'saltiness' was the 'off-putting'.......although, 50 years ago, I was served some rather delicious pate' made from the afterbirth of a good friend's 'home delivery'..... Don't grimace...if you've ever eaten  McDonalds' "pink slime" nuggets, folks, you've eaten more disgusting 'stuff'.....in disguise!

  1. PINK SLIME: Mechanically separated pink paste-like meat product created by forcing unstripped bones under high pressure through a type of sieve to separate edible meat tissue (including tendons and muscle fiber) from the bones, to which ammonium hydroxide... as an anti-microbial agent to neutralize the bacterial content of ground fecal material....salt and colorants have been added before this 'pink slime' is extruded, under pressure, into 'burger' patties, then flash-frozen and sent to your local McDonalds for 'human consumption' at a later date.....

  2. How about some Fish Sperm Sacs.....Sapporo style? I'm having some smoked eel sushi and Vidalia onion tempura for 'sunrise' b'fast.......having 'done' the traditional North Alabama New Year's foods a couple of days early.......Japanese buckwheat noodles with sesame oil and wasabi paste are washing out all the largesse of traditional American X'mas Fare's caloric overload.......New Year's Day will see sheep's pancreas, cooked in herbed butter, French style, with thin, crunchy asparagus sticks......that I've not had in a few years.......much tastier than bags of fish sperm or thin-sliced fowl gizzards in peanut sauce, Zimmern-style.......eaten, sentimentally, with Lilburn Carre' and Troy Ellis' old abalone shell-inlaid lacquered chopsticks, from Phyllis Rix's old Canton bowls........for End of 2020 'nostalgia'.......
