Strictly Uncommercial......Neglect to the Garden, then resurrected to a plate.....

the 'upside' of avoiding the crowded grocers and farmer's markets......much of the larger of canned 'goods' is being turned into culinary delectations .......black strap molasses, hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, Saus Kacang Hitam, pickled mangos, 'canned' snails, sweet lime pickles are being 'can openered' and becoming agents of innovative cooking.....Khakhara wheat crisps, methigota mix, powdered gorgonzola and dried fenugreek leaves....'standard' Pantry Stuff.....like 'thread' vermicelli, bow-tie spinach noodles and Eagle Brand Milk.......A good time to 'clean out' the shelves.....for the new 'empty' look......I remember a time when my mother did not leave her home, answer the phone or door...or have any contact with the 'outside'...existing on the many shelves of food that had accumulated during the "Soviet Threat", when Americans were hoarding food in Fallout Shelters, add-on 'storage' rooms and enormous Kelvinator Commercial Freezers....with keyed locks on them....After she died, I donated 500 pounds of frozen foods and and hundreds of cans of 'Food' to The Salvation Army.......Hmmmm, I wonder if this can of adzuki peas, imprinted 'best served before Oct. 1 2005' is still 'GOOD'..........don't think so! Or a can of ground coffee that's been 'lost' in the basement for 60 years! No 'Whoosh' outta that, when opened! But, not to 'waste' anything, the old coffee and other 'old' stuff is going to the garden....to the plants, its just 'fertilizer' and earth conditioner....Waste Not.....and don't wad up the potty paper! The Earth's being deforested because most do.....
