During a phone conversation this morning with a contemporary that was concerned about 'weight gain'.....as the majority of Americans 'ought to be'.....I was having a breakfast that I'd just cooked in my kitchen, with as much attention to visual presentation, eating instruments, china and glassware, lighting, music and table decor.....as to the 'food on the plate'......we decided to send one another photos of what we were 'having' for our b'fasts.......After viewing one another's photos, my friend commented: "you don't 'work', so you have time to make b'fast......I, on the other hand, have to 'catch' something on the way to work, and don't have time to lollygag, like you, in the kitchen!"......Whoa!....I figured that it took my friend ten minutes to drive to McDonalds, 5 minutes to 'get' that trashy 'meal', then another 5 minutes of rush hour 'out-of-the-wayness' before arriving at 'the office'......My meal took ten minutes....and I didn't have to eat it out of a bag, while driving a vehicle in wall-to-wall traffic......(What I didn't 'mention' was that I'd probably eat something else, completely different....in a couple of hours

😉),,,, I thought of that 'old expression'....."America Easts.....then goes home".....which is more dominant an expression than "America goes home to eat"........Well, our conversation began with talk about 'weight gain'.....I wondered what my friend 'saw', looking at that carb-laden goop with re-composed dehydrated eggs, oleo patties and half a cup of maple 'flavored' corn syrup and a cup of dilute Maxwell house with cornstarch 'whitener/creamer'......When a meal is aesthetic and flavorful and healthy and in good company.....one both eats less, more slowly and is more relaxed while doing so......The eating practices of dogs should not serve as our role models for dining.......as I search for my fine-tipped, lacquered, antique Japanese chop sticks........no plastic forks or spoon-scoops here! And a car is not a dining arena, although one is generally seated while eating...at least.....
